Night of the Reaper

Big letdown given how fun The Puppetman was. This wannabe home invasion slasher starts strong, but quickly begins to falter and slog as it goes on, culminating in a very messy infodump third act.

It wins me over with its confidence in restraint. The final thirty minutes deliver a brutal, satisfying payoff that justifies the slow burn. Strong performances from the lead & sheriff anchor the tension, proving smart atmosphere & character work can elevate modest budget horror.

Good camera work and direction. Ending was good but a bit clunky. Big downside was that Pamela Vorhees-ah reveal; thankfully not as egregious though as it had a wee bit of set-up.
