Never Let Me Go
the whole “what makes us human” trope/ justification of humanity in dystopian media is pretty cliche, but this movie does a beautiful job with its interpretation. what i think makes this movie so interesting, is that rather having kathy & tommy combat their demise, they end up 1)

I really wished they would run off together or beat the system or even unalive themselves together but it was beautiful they did love each other all along

if you read the book, you will probably get a little bit annoyed that some bits doesn’t fit and is different and the actors isn’t how you imagine them in the book. I also feel like it’s all a little bit rushed together to.

The truth, when revealed, was so simple, which is why it hurts so much more. There are no sci-fi dystopian cliches, just brutal realism and how lost we often feel in this world. It’s hollow, it’s cruel, it’s love, it’s human.
This film captured my heart and emptied my soul.

Watched it in school, which was probably not the best place for a movie like this. But I remember being very moved by it, shocked at times. Discusses the worth of a humans life. I have to rewatch!

I saw this film when I was little and I loved it, every time I watch it, I remember why I like it.
It’s a film with a slightly unusual story, but personally it keeps me interested from start to finish. The last 20 minutes are really tragic.

The book is way better in my opinion and the movie felt super rushed but at the same time kind of boring?? The massage and all is beautiful but I feel like they erased a bunch of important parts.

I think it was genius to create a world like this which also answers why there wasn’t any thought of escaping that terrible fate.
No fences, no guards, everything is open to them, yet they stay in cause the outer world is hostile.
Making a normality of them in open world and ignoring them, making it feel like something normal for them to be sacrificed.
The message given by “humanity” that for comfort we’d rather sacrifice someone else.
The deferral is also genius, misleading the clones to plan love rather than escape
And the core message of acceptance is bittersweet in one of the most beautiful ways.
Now, I’m putting a like rather than loved for a pretty simple reason. I feel like they could’ve done more, just a little more, it felt a little rushed here and there.
But again, the messages and the world building are genius.

read the book first and i’m kinda pissed some stuff wasn’t included but this was genuinely beautiful, the cinematography is insane and the cast is perfect. i do wish they managed to be together in the end though but i guess i’ll yearn

I haven’t cried this hard at a movie in a while, the cinematography was great and packed meaning into the film, and the message that all of us will complete, that no one knows how much time they have hit hard when viewing these characters thrust into these lives with no control
