Evil doesn’t have an iPhone y’all

This movie was ass ! Was there an actual evil or did they all have schizophrenia!? There’s a movie called Pumpkin (not a horror film) 10x better than this movie.
Wasted my damn time

This movie was just bad. It has no idea what it wants to be. It’s slow and painfully boring, and not scary at all. Do not waste your time!

Never seen a film like it in the sense that I thought the first 70% of the film was mundane and predictable. The next 20% was exciting and subverted my expectations and then the last 10% was a chaotic mess of discombobulation. The forced sequel potential ending let the film down.

6.7 - I wasn’t sure going in. I find the Appalachians & extreme isolation both really creepy, I’m terrified of being lost in the wild & slowly starving to death or succumbing to illness or injury, & I liked the trailer. I also *did not* like Crawl & was unsure about Alexandre Aja as a director.

This was a pleasant surprise.

It’s heavy on the “are they crazy or is it real” trope. It cuts in & out of reality & relies a lot on dreams/visions/hallucinations. It also has a small scale w/ a tight set of rules like A Quiet Place, I Am Legend or similar. If any of those aren’t your bag, it’s skippable. But I loved the locations, thought they did a strong job with the sound & monster design, & I think both lead kids performed great for the weight they had to carry. There’s plenty of tension throughout, & thankfully very little reliance on jump scares. The conclusion leaves a bit to be desired but I enjoyed the journey enough. Not really traditionally “scary” per se, & nowhere near my favorite of the year by any stretch, but the slow reveals & constant questions of reality kept me well engaged the entire time.

Honestly such a backwards confusing movie. Not one for me, excellent acting but story was meh.

So many issues with this film that would make my review too long than it allows me to write. Just disappointed overall especially with that (in my opinion) awful ending and just poor writing and execution overall. Really wanted to like it because it’s a promising idea for a film.

the ending… Tf

Good premise, decent delivery. The cast is good with great performances. Started slow, but finished good.

Great movie. Halle Barry is insane and incredible in this film. The kids did a great job acting as well.

Don’t expect to under at the end. You think you have it figured out and it ends with out a definite explanation
