Near Dark

Underrated and ahead of its time. It's no wonder why Kathryn Bigelow and James Cameron got along when you see the similarities in their work, and had this been a little stronger, I would be calling it the "Terminator" of vampire films. Strong casting, shallow character development. Compelling story, wobbly pacing. Stunning cinematography, dodgy practical effects. It holds up alright for a low-budget 80s flick, but I'd only really recommend it to vampire fans, although the bar scene is iconic.

idk i think in theory this movie slays like vampire cowboy YAASSSS…. but i think it tried to do too much and fell flat. i think it did a good job of portraying that rural american vampire but it overall just confused me. like in what world does farmboy vampire fear killing……

Some parts dragged on and I wish the main character would have just picked a lane so we could get some proper character development.

Honestly though, the other characters were what truly made the movie a solid vampire flick. Would recommend.
