Why does it say this was made in 2011 River phoenix had been dead for 18 years by then

“i don’t think two men can fall in love” // “i love you and you don’t pay me” — the absolute rage i felt at the end of the movie towards scott when he rejected bob but also when he left mike in rome,,, like BRUH. he was so manipulative this whole movie just waiting until he turned 21/the death of his father to get in his inheritance and then turn his back on the community that welcomed him. and mike deserved better he was just so kind this whole movie and his best friend just used his whole sexuality to profit and then told him that he couldn’t actually fall in love

didn’t understand the whole purpose of the movie, but still a great entertainment, would have probably been better if the relation between scott and mike was more exploited

honestly I really could have done without a lot of the Shakespeare stuff. I think about half of this movie was super interesting and had a lot of unique shots/ideas. the plot Mirroring Henry the IV is cool, but the random Shakespeare dialogue really brings down half of the movie.

Why is everybody monologuing all the time. I knew it was gonna be gay but I had no idea there would be collared Keanu Reeves. Can’t believe no one told me. Big sad overall but also kinda big nothing, but not in a bad way. Just huh wow huh alright then.

It was a very strange film that seemed to have no flow. It just started stopped started stopped and started stopped again wherever it wanted and it kind of left me confused but overall the film was an all right. Classic cute little in the film.

disconnected and hard to follow but builds the relationship between scott and mike well. bonus that keanu is so fucking hot it should be illegal. rip river 🤍

It was ok worth seeing

The last scene is so pivotal — a road breaking up a landscape, green on one side as it flourishes, brown on the other as it withers and dies. Effectively subtle symbolism.

I’m sure this movie was groundbreaking back in 91’ but it’s such a damn slow burn that I was getting bored with it in places. I also feel like I’ve seen similar contemporary films that I’ve enjoyed significantly more but I recognise that some of those were likely impacted by the existence of this in the first place.
I will say that both Phoenix and Reeves are brilliant in their respective roles and they’re pretty much the only reason I stuck this out til the end.

pretty confusing at times but i blame shakespeare. had some good moments especially the campfire scene. the ending made me pretty upset but i did enjoy the movie. it made me laugh a lot too.

its like romeo and juliet but without hot leo and the cool aesthetic 5/10

Bizarre and captivating. really really weird at times. Interesting POV on prostitution and hustle culture. Lots of aggressive far reaching plot points. Second half becomes a bit boring
