I wish this stayed more true to the book, when reading it I could see it working as a movie but I’m not a fan of how they did it

Not even close to matching how good the book was.

The book is a million times better, this wasn’t bad but wasn’t anything I’d care to watch again either. I’ve read the book a few times and loved it, and felt like this didn’t do it justice at all, they could’ve made this so much better. At the end when the demon showed its true self/form it was so laughable and cringe 😂😅

Fun teen movie with a touch of horror

I watched this straight after I finished the book (which I loved). I found it to be quite a disappointing retelling with a lot of missed opportunities.

Maybe I shouldnt compare too much but I think the different ending was pretty awful.

Oh man, they totally ruined the heart and humour we get from the book with this movie adaptation. We don't get a sense of their deep friendship at all, or the backstory of how they bonded. Even all of the 80's nostalgia felt cheap and fake. This had great potential. Ugh.

I really enjoyed it. Ngl I thought they were gonna kiss at the end. They were a bit fruity.

I’m so conflicted by this film. I’ve also read the book and the story has great potential, but it takes such a weird turn and it just lost me completely. I found myself laughing when I probably shouldn’t have been and the “demon” was a mix between Gollum and Dobby 😂. Very strange

I rated the book 4⭐️, and very much enjoyed it. The movie not so much. I thought the acting was questionable at the beginning (got better for the main two as we went). And they changed so much from the book to try to make it.. idk, more PC? More okay in current times? it was mehh
