I wish this stayed more true to the book, when reading it I could see it working as a movie but I’m not a fan of how they did it

I watched this straight after I finished the book (which I loved). I found it to be quite a disappointing retelling with a lot of missed opportunities.

Maybe I shouldnt compare too much but I think the different ending was pretty awful.

The book is a million times better, this wasn’t bad but wasn’t anything I’d care to watch again either. But I have read the book a few times. At the end when the demon showed its true self/form was laughable and cringe 😂😅

Oh man, they totally ruined the heart and humour we get from the book with this movie adaptation. We don't get a sense of their deep friendship at all, or the backstory of how they bonded. Even all of the 80's nostalgia felt cheap and fake. This had great potential. Ugh.
