This is a painfully truthful, beautiful film that is one of those not easy to watch greats. The way this film depicts human connection, how it shows pain, how it connects the viewer to both trauma and reassurance, it gets under your skin and moves freely within you in a natural, realistic way. There are times where this feels real, Mahershala Ali in particular pours out of the screen, the music is perfect, the lighting is great, few faults diminish the accomplishments this film achieves. It’s a real bummer though, one of those films that makes you carry its weight. 4.5/5
