Brad is "meh" on
Monster Hunter
Paul WS Anderson, you are terrible. The monsters, weapons, and characters all look right. But pretty much everything else here is bad. The story is stupid and should have completely left out the whole portal and modern military thing. Just make a Monster Hunter movie... 3.5/10

Hoping it’d capture the magic of the Capcom games I usually grind on my PS5. Expected a super fun adventure, but the thin plot and editing honestly dragged it down.
What Worked:
• Jovovich and Jaa’s game-accurate weapons and armor look super rad on screen.
• The VFX for massive monsters like the Rathalos are honestly top-tier.
• Haslinger’s musical score totally fits the vibe and keeps the energy up.
The Friction:
• The generic US military portal plot totally dragged for me.
• I usually prefer practical elements, so the heavy reliance on photoreal VFX made the world feel a bit hollow.
• The choppy direction and editing honestly pulled me out of the immersive combat.
Verdict:
Watch for mindless monster-slaying action. Skip if you get annoyed by choppy editing or want a deep story.
