i liked the cinematography, i just find the age gap between chiyo and that man weird

This is not romantic. Not in any way or kind or form of it. It is more sad and bitter with a tange of sweetness.
But to a little girl who’s lost everyone she’s loved and has fixated her attention and goals to focus on one man, it may seem like love. This is a good film

I don’t understand why people find the age gap so weird. This movie is beautiful and has more or less historical accuracy. So the age gap is simply part of the history and how it was back then. Beautiful cinematography, good characters and pacing. Would recommend to watch it.

Just for the setting, costume and Japanese colture this movie is amazing!! I found super interesting the geisha world and the historical changes that happens in Japan and all the characters are interesting. The only low side of the movie is the love story, inappropriate age gap.

Gorgeous movie cinematically, the storyline is good too

Started with so much potential but then ended up being kind of meh and also having them speak english instead of japanese should be a crime because who thought that would be great???

Perfect movie. EVEN for the very weird but unfortunately period accurate age gap :/
The fact that her only chance for happiness was a man twice her age who was kind to her ONCE when she was NINE

Sweet though :) I’m happy for her
