Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World

Very underrated movie. An immersive, intense tale of friendship, hubris and comradely that unfolds throughout a naval adventure. This is a top shelf period piece with excellent acting. 8.5/10

A brilliant and historically accurate depiction of what it would have been like in that time. This isn’t a typical action film, it’s good telling story and fabulous actors allows a more character driven story than a nonstop action flick. Good journey with brilliant actors. 8.9/10

There is not a day that passes where I don’t wish they made the sequel. What a beautiful movie and how beautiful it could’ve have been.

Simple & immediate premise executed skillfully. Crowe & Bettany are excellent & perfect foils. Awesome sound mix, great visuals, attn. to detail, & valiant story. Epic final battle & themes of courage, ingenuity, and sacrifice - undeniably a shining star in the "dad movie" genre.
