Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World

Very underrated movie. An immersive, intense tale of friendship, hubris and comradely that unfolds throughout a naval adventure. This is a top shelf period piece with excellent acting. 8.5/10

Hvis Russell Crowe havde været kaptajn på Titanic, så var det aldrig sunket.

Simple & immediate premise executed skillfully. Crowe & Bettany are excellent & perfect foils. Awesome sound mix, great visuals, attn. to detail, & valiant story. Epic final battle & themes of courage, ingenuity, and sacrifice - undeniably a shining star in the "dad movie" genre.

Deliberate pacing creates rich and lively environments, but leaves little time for memorable characters with such a large ensemble (crew)

Really slow but the last 30 min is sick. Love boat movies. Made me miss the Pirates franchise in its hay day.

It’s been 23 years since its initial release and I finally decided to open my 4K Steelbook and put it on. Was it worth the wait? Not really. Did I enjoy it in the end? Absolutely. It’s a good, tense action thriller. It’s a bit of a slow burn, but it pays off in the end.
