i was worried at first how they were gonna portray max’s autism but i found it very relatable and refreshingly nuanced, even if the other characters don’t understand him, the film wants you to
this was a really bittersweet story though :( very good storytelling and animation

such a sad movie! im happy that mary survived but i wished max had lived a bit longer to meet her. It's so jarring to see how autism was treated back then and the same for obesity. I wish Max had another bit of happiness to escape the cruel judgement me faces everyday

Cute, dark, funny, sad all at the same time. Some of the most impressive stop motion animation I’ve seen. Great characters and writing with an ending that is as hopeful as it is sad. 9/10

i admit i was a bit weirded out at first. d film description got me like 🧐 but u just gotta watch it to really know what it's all about. the entire movie was pleasing to look at and d themes were seamlessly laid out in a funny, dark n emotional way. absolutely adore this film 🥺

Probably the most emotionally devastating things I’ve ever seen. I watched it when I was 16, alone on the family computer. Sobbed my eyes out. I will never watch it again. But it was very very good.

it’s as good as i imagined. It covered many serious topics in a way that that feels very real + the style and the tone of the animation helped bring out the intensity of those emotions.

Sucks to have a life that is so sad. I feel like sometimes things have to work out even on accident.
