Any movie with Meryl Streep is an occasion, but when you add Diane Keaton, Robert De Niro, Leonardo DiCaprio, Hume Cronyn and Gwen Verdon, you've got an embarrassment of riches. The main strength of this film is not its message, but rather its rich characterizations.

This was very heartfelt. The characters were all so well done, you couldn’t help but empathize with each one as much as you understood their faults.

“We weren’t?” That exchange sticks in my head, lee’s look of shock was so genuine

This movie was truly exceptional, telling a poignant story about family reconciliation. It's a beautifully acted, unsentimental look at caregiving and the healing power of selfless love.

it was surprisingly funny at times, and honestly pretty sad. all the characters had depth, with very realistic complexities. i have two scenes i’d like to highlight. Rating: (6.4/10)

(1) the argument in the film that takes place between Bessie and Lee that Hank witnesses was very well crafted.

(2) the lithium conversation that happens between Hank and the clerk behind the desk at the hospital is brilliant and i think it probably went over a lot of people’s heads at the time.

Big comfort movie for me when I’m sad. Even though it’s a sad movie it really hits me just right.

not exactly what I expected, but overall i liked it. i would watch it again, recommend it to everyone. The ending is uneventful, other than that great movie. 9/10
