Look Back
9/10 WOW For such a short film it really tells so much. Loved how it was a movie about self discovery and the ending was very bittersweet and emotional. I noticed the references in the film to certain events regarding the creator or other real world events which was interesting. I loved the parallels with the door towards the end and the “what could’ve been” but I think it really hammered down on how the choices we make is what impacts our life and others lives and you cannot go back in time and change that, and that’s also the beauty of it. I really would’ve enjoyed it being a longer film but i know the purpose of it is that it is short and telling. Wish I could’ve seen this in theaters.

Look Back
This movie captures the idea of growth through struggle really well. It’s something many people struggle with but through art the growth is so visual. The intersection she has at the end through the door, I feel, was her friend’s way of telling her to keep going. So she did.

Look Back
Never have I consistently cried for over 20 minutes while watching a movie.
Mannnn, I fucking balled my eyes out, i was told this was a “feel good movie that makes you want to chase your artistic dreams and never give up” I was fucking lied to, this shit had me crying for 22 minutes to be exact, about a character I MET 10 MINUTES AGO.
Look Back is an absolute masterpiece, it’s beautiful in every aspect, as much as I want to fault it, I can’t, there’s nothing going through my head right now that said “oh this could have been better, or I wouldn’t have done that” cause if I’m being honest, there isn’t a single thing I would change about Look Back.
I think the best thing Look Back manages to do is (minor spoilers) leave it up to interpretation more than once, I don’t think the situation could have been done any better.
Plot 8.9/10 (basic but it’s the building to it that really works)
Soundtrack/ Score 9.3/10 (heavenly but not much music, like an EPs worth)
Character Development 11/10 (the title speaks for itself)
Writing 9.7/10 (the juxtaposition while confusing at times work incredibly well)
Ending 9.4/10 ( maybe could have added an additional scene for some (minor spoilers) closure but nah it works as is)
Direction 9.6/10 (I’m rooting for Kiyotaka Oshiyama, man has some serious potential)
Overall 9.7/10
