Hated the pedo even more in this adaptation probably because this one is more explicit. If you’re interested in the story but have strong triggers watch the 60’s. Still a good movie tho & very depressing

I DO NOT consider this a romance movie or romanticize it! I also wish we could have seen it from her point of view.

good movie but i just can’t stand how people have turned this into a cute, sexy aesthetic. it’s grooming and p*dophilia. this movie is about how destructive it is, and how easy someone can take advantage of a child but people are too dumb to fully understand that and this film

The grossest and most uncomfortable movie I’ve ever seen. I don’t understand how anyone could like such a plot. The acting is decent, but I simply cannot bring myself to like this movie due to the nature of what occurs. I don’t recommend watching it, I regret it. (1/2)

I don't understand how anyone could like this movie. A grown ass man who "loves" a young girl then proceeds to kiss, fuck, and hit her, not to mention that he was responsible for her mother's death. Toxic and inappropriate, extremely boring. Very disappointed, wouldn't recommend.

The film is remarkably...disturbing. There's no other way to put it.

honestly this is one of the most traumatising pieces of media i’ve ever forced myself to watch but idk i left feeling uneasy whereas the book had me physically gagging so it didn’t meet expectations

beautiful cinematography. and that is the only thing good about it. it’s a horrible adaptation of the book. and anyone that thinks otherwise needs help.

2/10 would never watch again. was so boring i couldn’t even finish it, the movie was so grotesque and horrible and the romanticization of it is even worse.

literally took me a week to finish this film because i kept getting grossed out. poor lo really just needed a father figure, or any parental figure for that matter. the fashion and aesthetics were beautiful but that does not change how disgusting this is. #frickhumbert (7/8/25)

I hate this movie because it is ethically wrong. But my god, is it a good fucking movie.
