Léon: “You're not going to lose me. You've given me a taste for life. I wanna be happy. Sleep in a bed, have roots. And you'll never be alone again, Mathilda. Please, go now, baby, go. Calm down, I'll meet you at Tony's in an hour, I love you, now go, go now.”

i used to loveee this movie as a young kid so i decided to rewatxh it has very pedopholic undertones+ learned the director is a pedo plus there was supposed to be a sex scene which is just disgusting plus more gross stuff that (luckily) got cut

2/10-gave me the ick. The Director is a pedo and this film was an inspiration from his relationship with his first wife who was 15 and he was 31. She then got pregnant and married him at age 16. Just sick 🤢

Honestly I would love this movie if it weren’t for some of the weird parts.
The only way I can think to interpret it is that the love she felt was caused by the trauma she went through. I’m glad Lèon didn’t share the feelings obviously and it seemed he cared about her in more of a fatherly way which definitely saved it a little.
Other than that the movie was really good, the action was good and overall it was a good watch.

Creepy romantic undertones with 12 year old Natalie Portman, and no that’s not just me reading into it

Exaggerated and uncomfortable at times but really a rollercoaster to be one. Excellent acting from all three leads.

Chillingly immoral love life this director guy has 😰 But in my opinion, even looking at this film from an outside perspective, I personally found the script & most directing choices rather bland. But bonus points for the setting & that Sting song at the end. Decent ending tho 👍

05/21: liked the setting and premise, the cinematography was good too. portman&reno did a job well done, but there were scenes that made me uncomfortable. I didn’t like the ambiguity of their dynamic, wish it was made clearer that he didn’t like her the same way she liked him.

I love how this wasn't just about a hitman or guns, it was about the relationship between two characters who contrast each other completely, in every way possible. The dialogue was cheesy but solid. The story is heartbreaking and wholesome. The actors give it their all. especially Natalie Portman. The design and cinematography is eye pleasing. If you want an R rated Karte Kid, this is the place to be.
