Great script with wonderful characters that left me guessing pretty much throughout the whole thing, but delivered a strong ending

Engrossing murder mystery plot, wonderful script (Lydecker's quirky dialogue is a delight), and beautiful cinematography. Gene Tierney is lovely. The twist completely floored me - masterfully implemented. The last five minutes are tantalizing; the suspense is unbearable.

They had the chance for a dark ending, but they didn't have the balls. The first half is definitely better than the second half, but overall it's still a good mystery suspense from the 40s.

Man, I had a real good time with this movie, smiling and chuckling and clapping my knees together in a loud manner until Laura just walked through the door and said "Welp, I'm actually alive!" My enjoyment of that movie fell immensely at that point.

Clifton Webb steals this movie from minute one, with his snarky narration and quick jabs at those he deems intellectually inferior (everyone in the movie)

This movie had me so confused at first, but I ended up really enjoying it and highly recommend for anyone who likes a black and white mystery. I love the characters and the tone of the movie plus I wasn’t expecting the ending.
