Who killed Alice?

There is a lot of hype around this film but I found it slow, drawn out and without any horror.

It’s very slow. It’s edited well. I don’t feel any real grief from the family. That being said the twists and turns were great. Usually bugs me that there is no why. For a couple of things. Good watch. Not a repeat watch though. Not the least bit scary if you need that.

dang. this movie isnt really scary but its sure a great story. simple and has you feeling bad for the ghost at the end ngl

Why is this movie so hyped up

Takes its time to unravel the mystery, but that ending is absolutely worth the effort. A deeply haunting slow-burn mockumentary.

took me so long to finish this bc i kept dropping it bc i was bored

Really liked the premise of it being presented as a documentary, it really gives an uneasy feeling to it . I will say I was somewhat disappointed since I heard people talk about how scary this movie was, but didn’t really get that feeling at all. Still a solid watch tho

Can’t say I particularly enjoyed the film, but the constant scratching around for reasons that develops when coping with losing a loved one, that was executed well.

Feeling torn on this one. There are some very scary shots, one in particular that sent chills down my spine. And the acting is genuinely incredible. Despite this being a mockumentary, I found all of the cast to be incredibly believable and natural.

However, I think the story overall lacks a bit. It’s more sad than it is scary for most of it. And I’m not one who likes to call a movie boring (I love a slow burn), but this one realllllly challenged my ability to stay locked in.

I loved some parts and found many others to be a letdown. But that one shot is definitely going to stay with me.

This would be excellent as a TV episode, not a full feature-length film. I do like some of these documentary-style movies, but you have to be in the mood, and I wasn't, at least for this particular one. I knew I wasn't but watched it anyway to finish up "Shudder's 101 Scariest Movie Moments" list.

What I’ll say about Lake Mungo is it’s genuinely scary. Spooked me to my core and left a lingering feeling from the creepy visuals. I’ve seen other found footage films with better plot lines but this was well made.
