I admit that I’ve watched this just because of the meme with king Baldwin IV. (I am him ✋🏻)
Not a movie genre I normally watch but I really like this movie. Loved the dialogues, fights, building tension.
Please watch director’s cut (I know it’s 3 hours long and u got ADHD).

It is a pretty good movie, but it is 3 hours long. They did almost everything right, but I wish they made it a little faster pacing. The MC is okay but I find King Baldwin and Saladin more interesting than the MC. My rating for it is 7.4/10.

One of the most detailed movies I’ve ever seen, did Monty python kill this genre? Need more of these. Prime bloom. Color at times felt off with some CGI but not bad for the time. Awesome costume and design

Directors Cut: Phenomenal film. One of the most detailed movies Ive ever seen. Loved the dialogues, fights, building tension. Ridley Scotts filmography is fascinating to me. A master of storyteIling. It isnt about faith or war, but about how easily humanity disappears in between

Director’s Cut:

It remains baffling to me that studios insist on mandated runtimes. Kingdom of Heaven Director’s Cut exists as a key example of why studios should trust their director's vision. Ridley Scott has proven time and again that his "original" versions are far superior, and this film is one of the clearest examples of that!

The scope of the film is frankly staggering. The world feels truly lived-in, primarily due to a reliance on practical effects and on-location shooting, but even the CGI blends surprisingly well for a film made in 2005. At the film’s core is story on religion, always a touchy subject, but it’s handled with an incredible nuance. It’s less about a “Holy War” and more an exploration of the war of your own moral compass, emphasising the value of doing what is right over murdering under the pretence of “divine forgiveness”.

Orlando Bloom delivers his career best here. He portrays the burden with seemingly ease, far better of a performance than Lord of the Rings (sorry, not sorry!). Eva Green is equally as good, showcasing a character of tragic depth (something which was entirely cut out of the theatrical cut!!!!!). She was hot stuff in the early 2000’s, I’ve got no clue where she’s gone.

This cut easily earns a spot in Scott’s top 10. His filmography is a fascinating to me, incredibly varied, yet always rooted in these same gritty, philosophical notions of power and belief across history.

Great performances, beautiful cinematography, and an accurate retelling of the story. The editing does make the plot somewhat confusing, so I would recommend some research before. I hear the directors cut is better at character development and editing.

Lots of historical inaccuracies, Terrible portrayal of the Knights Templar, the MC is aura farming like he’s UI Goku, 6 catapults in shot but somehow they’re launching 50 projectiles a second, riding into the sunset with a side bitch passing your wife’s grave. Overall 8/10

A solid sword & sandals production that takes liberty with the history it depicts but perfectly captures some ideas that were top of mind in the years following 9/11. Not a top-tier dad movie but worth a watch if your into this moment is history.
