Eerie movie with some loud jump scares. I didn’t dislike it but it was strange. Osgood Perkins has been disappointing recently and I need to lower my expectations for his films. 6.0/10
Better than dookie ass Beau is afraid and The Monkey at least

i think it could’ve stood to be a little less abstract but overall i didn’t mind it
i appreciated the themes of giving up parts of yourself in a relationship
i do wish that some things were foreshadowed a bit more but the imagery was pretty freaky so i enjoyed myself

The thesis is super clear, the mood and vibes are spot on Perkins. If you like his stuff, you’ll dig this movie. Love the designs so much. It’s a trip for sure, more reminiscent of his earlier flicks.

This movie kicks ass! I know that sounds weird to hear about a horror feature, but trust me! The story is sharp, Maslany is phenomenal in the lead role, and the scares are turned up to 11! Go in blind and experience this film, Perkins is 3 for 3 now in my book!

This movie is utter shit and I would suggest not watching it, unless you have nothing better to do.

Keeper is a quiet, tense film that focuses on isolation and psychological pressure. It relies more on atmosphere than action, making it slow but unsettling. A good pick if you like subtle suspense.

This felt like a massive shitpost ngl
Aimed too hard to be artsy and just lost the plot but done on purpose

5.3 - I just can’t figure Os Perkins out. I don’t dislike anything of his I’ve seen, but for someone with so much style & such unique vision, his end products are just so inconsistent. I can’t help but feel it may be an issue of using different writers, and maybe he just needs to settle into a consistent relationship on that side.
Keeper is a perfect example of this.
It’s gorgeous, and experimental with some of the shots, and the atmosphere is significantly creepy, especially the ending sequences. But the story is so tangled & messy that it was thoroughly difficult to invest in. I’m still not even 100% certain on how all the connections that were implied tied together by the end. Oh, & Tatiana Maslany stays one of the most frequent “not-her-fault” actresses out there - she’s absolutely giving her all here.
I left this one fairly disappointed, mainly because my expectations for Perkins have been so high since Longlegs, but overall, it’s a pretty middling folk horror with some moments of cool camera work.

A great slow burn horror that gets paid off at the end. Loved all the camera angles and constant tension throughout. This movie was truly one of a kind and the creatures were something out of a nightmare. 8.5/10

Effectively eerie, but overall made no sense. The film just happened to feel uncertain as the story continued. I can still respect the experimental elements.

I saw this with Scott in WoodGreen, Tatiana’s acting was superb. The first 2 acts were slow, the ending after she realised the truth wasn’t clear enough - i left confused. Unsure of the significance of the cake, why she was the original mother from 200 years ago and at a river.

First off, Oz Perkins has a very indelible talent for creating an atmosphere of dread. From the start you feel that something is wrong. The dread intensifies as snippets of the reality emerge. In the final act you are rewarded with the horror in full view. Is it the end????

A really good horror film. The acting is great, the atmosphere is really uncomfortable, and it’s a gorgeously shot film. 7.5/10
