Let’s do it, let’s talk about it, let’s talk about my most anticipated of 2026, let’s talk about Tom Cruise, let’s talk about the masters at work. At its core this film hates you, it hates the world, the people in it, and those in charge. It gives a despicable depiction of people who should be caricatures yet it leaves you constantly waiting for a punchline that never comes; these are real people, this is real life. So much happens in this film that blew me away, the leaps it makes to entertain are admirable, the efforts made to make this the most unique film of Iñárritu’s career, the lengths Tom Cruise goes to embody this character; masterful. Where it lost people is in its bleak understanding of how the world will not be getting better, this isn’t a satirical attack against climate change, this is the cautionary view of how we’re already too far gone. Where the divide is placed is in its humor, this is a very funny film with top shelf bits and hilarious performances, yet it demands a serious perspective the script nor actors want to give, it’s a beautiful symbiosis that created a wholly unique experience. It will be said to death but Tom Cruise is the man, he’s sensational, John Goodman has expressions in this film I don’t think any other actor could make, you entirely forget Jesse Plemons is even in this film yet he steals the show with every scene, but Riz Ahmed? That’s the winner right there, that’s the Oscar. Speaking of the Academy let’s go ahead and give Chivo another Oscar, it’s exhausting to constantly mention how well shot these films are but man this one is gorgeous. One thing about Iñárritu that captivates me is how he conducts an audience for ensemble scenes, there are some truly great ones here, but even with that this is a lot, like all his films it isn’t perfect, maybe I wanted it to be but ultimately the misunderstood master at work will continue to be misunderstood. Don’t listen to the critics, we don’t negotiate with terrorists. 4.5/5

Now I’m not a fan of Tom Cruise, but this is undeniably the best performance of the year, and not only that, cause I’ll let you on to a little secret… this is the best film of the year, and easy at that, the year isn’t over yet, my mind is open, but this is hard to top, this is extremely hard to top.
Everything from performances to cinematography meticulously chosen to create a modern day masterpiece. And the directing.. oh boy, Inarritu just made the best film of his career so far with some of the best production design I’ve seen in a while.
And Cruise, I was not familiar with your game, real acting game, this got me feeling like last year when the rock did the smashing machine, I’m impressed, get that statue, you deserve it.
Inarritu deserves his second Oscar too

To echo others - this really is the next Babylon. Critics have been divisive, mainly negative, as they were with that masterpiece - history is repeating. Go and see this film, form your own opinion!
First and foremost I feel awful for the marketing team at WB, having seen - this is quite possibly the most difficult film ever made to properly advertise. Possibly the most insane plot twist in a film ever, and it’s a fucking miracle it didn't leak and wasn’t spoilt for me, and hopefully for any of you. The narrative structure is incredible, the way it reveals things, provides exposition - but most importantly WHEN it does those things is a masterclass in and of itself and should be studied.
The themes, primarily those political are stark and refuse to bear any discretion. By all accounts bold and audacious with how it goes about presenting it, but with purpose in how it relates to the narrative. I think it’s this particular element that is what’s proving divisive to many whom hold particular political beliefs, but this is EXACTLY what the film wants to do away with and discourage - and I think it’s terrific.
Tom Cruise is off the charts good here, what a sensational performance. He really disappears into Digger Rockwell, very quickly you adjust to the heavy prosthetics and the voice - and you just submit to what he’s doing with it all - simply extraordinary. Whilst a lot of the talk will rightfully be on Cruise, there’s some equally phenomenal work off to the side in that of John Goodman and more so Riz Ahmed, who absolutely steals the show frequently. There’s several monologues throughout - famously Cruise’s “one-take 10 minute” one that is being advertised, but Jesse Plemons also gets one that was breathtaking, and really brought the emotional arc of the film home.
An all-timer cinema experience, a collective shock filled the room in a way which is rarely felt. A real testament to Alejandro Iñárritu’s understanding of cinematic flair and narrative. I’d say “more films should be like this” - but they shouldn’t, as it makes those that are, all the more special.

I think it was very boring and despite the good message, the story just wasn't interesting to me, and the crazy things happening just made me
more distant from the movie

Very interesting film. A big twist in the middle that really changes the narrative although I didn’t quite see the need for it. It did make it more interesting though as you’re trying to piece it together. A+ acting and filmmaking. Surely Oscar bait. Cruise was phenomenal.

Very interesting movie that had some pretty interesting ideas. Acting kinda carried it for me though. I liked the message of the movie and I thought that Tom Cruise's monologue was a masterpiece of a scene it was so good. 7/10
