Ivan's Childhood

Very good movie. I feel like they could’ve done more with it, but the end product was great regardless.

The ending was very well done, as was the cinematography (no shit it’s Tarkovsky), and the characters were surprisingly solid.

Wasn’t bored at all and not much even happened

Through the use of spectacular cinematography and a deeply touching story, Tarkovsky took my breath away with Ivan’s childhood. This was devastating. 8/10

Very slow and boring in my opinion. None of the characters really interested me all that much either

This is one of those cases where leaving things unsaid doesn't hurt the film—it actually works in its favor. The depth and attention to detail in each shot are striking. This may well be the best directorial debut of all time.

Tarkovsky Binge No. 1: A poetic, abstract, restrained yet haunting depiction of the horrors of war
