2.2 - I wanted to like this so badly. I saw all the hype. It sounded fascinating & unique. But I hated it. It’s boring & monotonous. Pure slashers are my least fave horror so maybe I’m the wrong audience.
The kills were a mixed bag, & the effects took me most of the way out of the good ones. The script & delivery were terrible. The killer’s POV angle did not work w/ such a lack of backstory & empathy. The movie itself felt bored w/ its own premise. And the ending was shockingly weak. A couple points for beautiful locations & incredible sound design though.

The hate for this movie is unwarranted tbh, it is EXACTLY what it sold its self as which was the POV of the killer of a slasher, I swear if it had the A24 card in the intro ya’ll wouldn’t be able to stop praising it
Most of the criticisms is complaining that the killer is walking everywhere which made it boring but like what’d ya’ll think Jason did, just open portals to get around like Doctor Strange?
The acting is “bad” but its not CW bad and it really just adds to the charm of what they were doing which was essentially giving us the POV of someone like Jason Voorhees
The kills are fun and creative as well, I’ve personally never seen one like what that blonde girl got 😭 she shoulda just jumped
I put this movie on to fall asleep from all the people saying how awful and boring it was but in reality its kind of intriguing and kept me awake — if you want to see what an actual boring movie looks like put one of Jane Schoenbrun’s movies on

BORING. Everyone in this movie was apparently blind, deaf and just plain stupid

Movie sucked. Nothing was good about it tbh. Super boring and camera work was nauseating

The camera angles were great but it was not scary just gory. My experience may have been tainted by a fellow movie goer laughing at every kill scene but I don’t see myself watching this again.

Have you ever wondered what Jason does between his kills? Answer: He walks slowly through the woods.
That's what this movie is to a tee. Is it terrible? No. Will I watch it again? Probably not. Extremely gory and inventive kills though, so there is that! 6/10

The concept was really interesting but I just don't think it was executed really well in this movie and this movie had alot of potential but sadly it was all wasted. Also this movie felt so dragged out after the yoga scene and the dialogue was so bad throughout the whole movie.

1/10. This is the worst horror movie I have ever seen. More like borror movie cause I almost fell asleep. I wasn’t scared a single time this whole movie. It was more of a gore movie and even that was just goofy. This whole killer pov was a cool idea but a failed experiment. AHHHH

Some scenes over-stay their welcome and it’s just kinda slow, cinematography is good I guess.

This movie was pretty goddamn cool. Every shot was GORGEOUS, I adored the directing and the sort of backwards storytelling where we see just the tiniest snapshots of an entirely different movie playing in the background. The kills were great, and I even liked the killer a lot!

he had to walk that slow otherwise the movie would’ve been over in 10 minutes.

This started out really slow for me but once it got going I actually really liked it. The deaths were some of the most insane deaths I’ve ever seen and my jaw definitely dropped a couple of times and stayed there for awhile.

Is it perfect? No. Is it something different? Yes & I appreciate the attempt at something different. The walking isn’t that bad. If you’ve wandered the wilderness gaining XP then this is familiar & infinitely less tedious than that. Plus, it’s oddly calming, which I think makes the violence a bit “more.” It shocks you out of enjoying the scenery to a “gazelle being ripped apart by a lion” experience. The kills are good and mostly unique. Not sure why they steered away from showing all the kills. Likely to get a R rating. It’s a misstep though with the whole premise being POV focused. The log splitter was an unimaginative use, considering the yoga kill. Acting is mid to ok, with some bad mixed in. Some questionable script choices, like in the showdown with “I’ll distract him by standing within literal arms reach” 🤦♂️ Final girl: I’m not sure if she qualifies as a final girl or not? She does survive (seemingly). Or the killer is just catching up since she went mobile. I think she survives. Unlikely she will ever go anywhere near the woods ever again. Probably ends up in an apartment in a big city on a high floor. Overall I was entertained. Re-watch isn’t super high. Maybe a few years from now for some nostalgia or if there’s a sequel. With some work, aka learning from their mistakes, this could be one of those movies where the sequel is better than the original.

Watched this in a early access screening and honestly, mid realness. Insane gore with grotesque kills (at times laughable) and great camera angles. The problem here is how lacking it is on everything else. Fun take on showing the killer’s POV but I thought it’d be more tense.

This is a very slow watch. If you intend to watch this don’t watch it on a day you’re a little upset or you won’t enjoy it. The movie has absolutely stunning scenery and equally stunning blood and gore. It’s quite simple but beautifully executed. Solid 8/10
