what a beautifully bittersweet and meaningful masterpiece. filled to the brim with so many great lessons and quotes, the cinematography is amazing, the acting is perfect, the story is impeccable, and every other aspect of this film is utterly incredible. truly one of kurosawa’s best works

When you feel worthless or wonder what there is to live for, you watch this. I don't really know what else to say other than Kurosawa excels at even more meaningful drama.

It’s a beautifully told story of a hard working man. I love how it built up from just plain “boring” working, until finding what is the meaning of life and fully enjoying it to the fullest. While it may look and feel boring, I think it purposefully is. Beautiful film. 9/10

Really need to watch this again in better conditions because I know the way I watched it is what hindered it. I will rewatch it later in the year but I did enjoy it. Great performances and really asks a lot of deep, deep questions. My bad this isn’t higher

Should of watched this way sooner

The central storyline is touching but I didn’t enjoy this film all that much. Sluggish, monotonous, and a lot of unnecessary scenes that didn’t add much context. The message this movie sends is inspiring, but the way this story was told was not well done in my opinion.

A true Japanese classic

I absolutely adored this movie! I had tears in my eyes by the end. It shows how much we should value life and spend every breathing moment living it. Highly recommend 10/10!
