I really don't see what was so bad about the movie to others. I mean the dialogue and acting is goofy at times yeah, but other than that it's good. romance into a psychological horror thing? cool. it's insulting to say he "tried too hard," it's just his creative expression.

2.1 - Worst release of 2025, so far.

Sadly, not the worst I’ve seen in the last week. But this was a major buzzkill, watching this minutes after leaving Final Destination: Bloodlines. It admittedly maybe even amped up Bloodlines’s score in my mind.

I’m not a fan of The Weeknd at all - just not great vibes in general, but I tried really hard to put that aside.

It’s a two hour bad music video with a loose cringey retelling of Misery as its core plot. It’s dizzying, loud, & colorful but not in a fun, psychedelic, trip movie but in an I’m getting a headache, turn it off way. The dialogue is not good, the drone photography & whiplash editing are over the top & nauseating. The music is the one place where I can’t be unbiased against The Weeknd, it’s just his music. It also has the single worst scene of the year by a long shot.

And for some reason the intro credits repeat some designations like six times & drag on for like 15 minutes. That doesn’t affect the movie much but it annoyed me on top of the rest of the issues here.

Trey Edwards Shults, I’ve only seen It Comes at Night, but I think you’re better than this. Barry Keoghan, I know you’re better than this. Jenna Ortega, I think you’re better than this, but you need a new agent. Riley Keough, I hope you got paid well for only making a couple phone calls - you should have done more.

I knew it’d be bad, & the worse the reviews got the more I needed to see it. If that’s how you feel too good luck. If you’re a big fan of The Weeknd, have fun. Everyone else, spend your time & money elsewhere.

1/10 i did NOT get this movie. The whole thing was confusing and even after watching the whole thing i never got the storyline. I am surprised with Abel’s acting tho i think he did a great job!! 🥰 Jenna ATE 💋

I'll start off by mentioning the fact that I love The Weeknd as an artist. From his edgy aesthetics to his hypnotic music, there's no denying his talent. This movie, though? Far too bizarre. The acting isn't great, but it's the over-the-top, pretentious, pompous, and cringe persona Abel carries in his stories that turns me off. The directing is fine, the music is fine, and the casting is fine. I just can't stand the self-absorbed mysticism, especially for almost 2 hours. No chance. I think I'll stick to the 4-minute music videos next time.

I really enjoyed this. So visually appealing to the eye and the soundtrack was obviously top tier. but not just that story was absolutely great when u actually read into it. It’s about the 2 sides Lee representing the toxic side and Annie the deeper subconscious

If it was just a psychological movie based on a fictional pop star then I think it would have been so much better. After reading a review on this movie, “feels like I’m being forced to read Abel’s diary”, I couldn’t agree more. Feels like a bunch of self pity. Was still good tho

Damn, this disappointed me that ending was shockingly bad. Only thing that was okish was Jenna dancing around to the Weeknd  song. 
The Weeknd acting I would say sorry but it’s dreadful.

I hate when unbelievably rich people feel sorry for themselves and I hate it even more when they make a movie about it.

Didn’t really get the plot, felt more like a short film, run time went by like that

Acting was sometimes a bit cheesy or over the top

Goated soundtrack though, without it it would be a “Meh” but luckily I’m XO
