Alright, you want my take?

This is the best film out of 2025.

Yes I preferred this over one battle after another, you can see my review for it, it’s glowing.

But this, this means everything.

The performances direct the film, but Chloe Zhao’s directing still takes a huge spotlight.

For me, this should be an Oscar sweep, but it’s not going to be the case, and it’s fine, this film will survive history as one of the best depictions of Shakespeare’s work and life.

Everything about this is perfect.

Me gustó pero siento que hay 20 minutos de más capaz? Siento que en la última parte decae un poco o yo me perdí con el guion.
Para mí la actuación de ella hace la película, a paul lo amo y tampoco entiendo como nominaron a michael b Jordan y a él no, y el nenito(Hamnet) tremendo

A well developed story that starts with keeping you warm and mindful throughout the first half, just to become a heartwrenching, soulcrashing, painful to watch, to then lead to the catharsis that's overlooked in the these days era of open endings and never ending TV series.

shockingly had zero idea what this movie was about even tho i had seen press/promo stuff....therefore, no one told me it was sad af

i thought it was a good film! i think this was the first thing i've seen jessie buckley in, and she was excellentttttt. paul was aight but she ate

i got the chance to see a pre screening. this movie is going to win oscars. the story is beautifully heart wrenching, the cinematography and style is so simple, patient, and the cast doesn’t have a single bad actor. the performance, the rawness, the storytelling. you will cry.

5/5 - An incredibly beautiful and raw film about grief, but also primarily about love. It does a wonderful job at disconnecting itself from what we know and expect from a film about Shakespeare, and instead focuses on his family and their tragedy, creating a very tender portrait. Jessie Buckley was outstanding as Agnes - the strength of her character, love and adoration for her family, her natural spirit and ability to keep all her beliefs despite scorn from others - and her performance left me in tears, she truly deserves all her accolades for this film. Her chemistry with Paul Mescall, Joe Alwyn, and the children were wonderful and helped create a true feeling of family. Not to mention the cinematography and scoring was breathtaking throughout. I especially love how everything was stripped back to the bones and kept contained, rather than reaching for a huge and complex story, which I find a lot of films struggle with now — Chloé Zhao has created a true masterpiece.

Every single person on screen is perfect but Jessie Buckley, Paul mescal, and Jacobi Jupe…
First of all OUCH but also holy shit that’s some good stuff. Performances that will last a lifetime

exceptionally acted and visually stunning period drama from the gorgeous opening to the powerful and life-affirming end. jessie buckley is a massive standout and gives it her all, as do the child actors and theater enjoyers. i appreciated the focus on nature above all, beautiful

In the end, his play was his way of coping with grief; that’s why, when he turned and saw her, he knew that she had not only forgiven him but had also managed to pull her out of the darkness and the guilt she felt over the loss of her son 10/10

I mean, I don’t know what more you can ask from a film besides maybe requesting it doesn’t rip your heart out as thoroughly as Zhao’s masterpiece does. An incredibly beautiful and devastating tale that left me with wet eyes and a deep respect for Jessie Buckley. 9.7/10 secrets.

This movie contextualizes Shakespeare’s Hamlet making it so much more tragic than it already is. The cinematography is unbelievably beautiful. The shot of Agnes looking off to the opening on the stage while the crowd sobs for Hamlet could be a Renaissance painting.

Deeply moving with a quiet emotional weight that stayed with me long after it ended. It was emotionally restrained and very authentic. Buckley, brought a raw, almost haunting vulnerability to her role. I also loved the boy’s performance everytime I see him on screen I cried..

A great exploration of grief and loss. Not usually my cup of tea. It took me a week watching it piece by piece. Very slow but has many scenes that are very powerful and intense. Incredible acting and shot beautifully.

Every scene feels written in order to evoke an emotional response from the viewer, that decision keeps you distant from the movie despite the intimacy; some lame biopic cliches and heavy handed writing. All poignancy comes from the raw, devastating emotions Jessie Buckley brings.

Actually very very very well done movie but for most people it would be boring cuz its very deep movie when u think about it

Went into it with no information. Felt like a crazy plot twist that the dad was William Shakespeare. Didn't really get a lot of the themes. Really long where not a lot happens, weird supernatural focus at times that didn't seem to matter in the end. Acting was good
