Green Lantern

Is it great? No.
Is it as bad as many people say? No.
Ryan Reynolds is appealing and funny, and he has great chemistry with Blake Lively.
Still worth watching.

I know this movie gets a lot of hate. I get it. Does it have flaws? Absolutely. Is the costume kind of ridiculous? Yes. But was the story enjoyable and was it fun to see Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds fall in love on screen? Yes. So overall is it a favorite? No. Is it watchable and able to be enjoyed? Yes. Just be forgiving of some things.

Everything about this movie genuinely upsets me. Every night I lay awake thinking about ways I can erase this movie from my memory. I have no answers.

Never been quite sure how one goes from making Casino Royale to this in the matter of a few years…

I wanted to rewatch this after having not long finished the new Lanterns show. It’s crazy how that can get this sector of the DC universe so right, where this gets it so wrong - even with this film having a more superhero-centric plot. Of course there was hella studio interference, with every department trying to swing their dicks - the failure was entirely inevitable. It’s superhero movies like this; Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and The Marvels where it’s baffling as to how it all went so wrong. CGI is abhorrent, truly - it looks like a PS2 game cutscene, dialogue is like a fart from an arse, all just really poor stuff.

Despite my disliking for them both, Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively do fine here, Reynolds even is maybe good (?!), Mark Strong does a good Sinestro, although I’d have liked to have seen more - likely the intention for the sequel the world was graced for never receiving.

Truly bad and worthy of the hate it receives. Wouldn’t say it’s quite half a star material though… but undoubtedly dull and a complete misfire.

Look I get the complaints but it’s really not THAT bad
it’s fun , and for those who aren’t like die hard nerds about the comics , it does well for a movie

give it at least a shot if you haven’t watched before
