It had massive flaws, but for being released in 54’ you can’t critique it too harshly.

Pacing was the worst aspect of the film by a mile, was slow and boring with no depth of characters. The effects on the other hand were well done for the time, only hinderance were the cutaways

“A-bombs versus A-bombs, H-bombs versus H-bombs. As a scientist- no, as a human being - adding another terrifying weapon to humanity’s arsenal is something I can’t allow.” Is such a powerful line and just shows how beautiful this movie is in the aftermath of something so horrific

the film that started it all

holds up till this day for sure “if nuclear feasting continues then someday, somewhere in the world another godzilla may appear.” god i love godzilla

Genuinely good story

I could see why this was popular for its time and why people still like it. The acting out of some of the actors was really bad, the look of Godzilla was cool but you could clearly see that some of the scenes were just toys moving around, I sign of the times, it had potential.

The original may be slow compared to the flashy Godzilla we have today, but having better characters always makes for a better overall experience. Plus, I enjoy old monster movies, just like with King Kong.

I get it now... It's not about Godzilla at all!

It's about the overdose of melodrama purposed to tie into our humanity & call out our self-destructive tendancies as a human race!

such a masterful classic, one of the original big blockbusters to actually deliver with innovative filmmaking and overall quality regarding every aspect. the performances are amazing and the narrative holds up today as strong as ever. a must-watch for fans of real cinema

the OG, Ishiro Honda cooked and created a franchise that would live on for 70+ years , the music , the story and the design of Godzilla are all iconic

Best original Godzilla movie.

The classic Godzilla film that would go on to inspire a franchise under the name and effectively found the kaiju genre in public interest. Truly a horrifying movie with one of my favorite depictions of Goji.

It's good to be this old

The earliest sci fi "spectacle" Ive seen and it was insane. For this to have come out literally 9 years after the country was nuked TWICE is insane.

If you're a fan of Gojira, you need to see this movie.
