Kinda weird

I’m not sure what to think of this one upon my first watch. It’s got great cinematography and funny performances but the story is kind of a mess and it’s all over the place. I like Charlie Day but this might be a misfire for his directorial debut. I’ll give this a rewatch and see

Starts of as “Being There” but about movies but quickly loses focus. The satire’s too broad, going after celebrity culture, filmmaking, Hollywood conspiracies, cycles of fame, and much more instead of focusing on one target. Poorly paced, tries to rush through the first two acts.

I feel like it had a lot of potential, but it was poorly executed. It wasn’t bad whatsoever and had a lot of funny parts, but was really messy. I love charlie day anyway.
