Phenomenal!! I see how Momento came out so perfectly. I didn’t think Christopher Nolan’s directorial debut would be so deep, boy was I wrong. This man never ceases to surprise me!!

i didn’t even pay attention to the fact that this is christopher nolan’s debut film, but now that i know it makes so much more sense. i was only “liking” this movie up until the 3rd act. this is truly a nolan film through and through. love it.

ts was actually insanely good😭😭. nolan was already a master at ts from the jump. ppl would like this more if ur wasn’t in black and white. The plot was good asf. Nolan rlly the goat. worth the time fs.

An interesting introduction to Nolan. I liked it decently enough. You definitely see his vision that has been mastered in his recent films throughout The Following. A fun watch, but likely a one-time watch for me.

Nolan was already fixated on time & human behavior all the way back in his debut film. The non-chronological storytelling introduces a set of intriguing puzzle pieces, culminating in his signature "mindfrick" ending. Limited by its budget in acting & sound, but still very good.

I think it’s interesting for nolan’s first considering it had all the confusing and twist elements when it kind of didn’t need to, and the rest of his filmography all really did need that format. it’s also the length of an episode of tv but still felt boring at times from slow pacing. wouldn’t rewatch but it’s a fine movie.

It felt so much longer than an hour

I guess the nonlinear and trippy storytelling was there from day one for Nolan. The beginning started off strong, but it certainly lost steam in the middle. The jumping around made the 60 minute runtime feel longer. The eventual ending actually surprised me though.

Such a unique story and also such a typical Nolan film with the overlapping timelines and complex climax/resolutions

Really underrated it’s not amazing but you can see the birth of Nolan’s style here with alot of techniques he’d use later on it’s a good first film and a good watch 8.6/10

Great low budget film. Shows that all you need is a good script and vision. Also friends that are willing to work with you every weekend.

Fascinating debut in 1998, and on a $6k budget??? 😮 Crazy that 25 years later, his 2023 film Oppenheimer had a budget of $100,000K ($100 million)!
