Fallen Angels
comfort film.
in all honesty, one of the best films I’ve ever seen,
there is so much art to interpret here it doesn’t make sense to watch it only once. 10/10

such a unique experience this film brought me. the camera work was chaotic and like nothing i’ve seen before. characters were written well too so it helped convey a range of emotions. (7.8/10)

As always, two stories that link themselves at one point. It's not my favourite kind of film but I had a good time, Hong Kong is filmed in an amazing way, such a vibe.

обожаю ручную съемку и стилистику азии, все такое тесное и неоновое… хотел бы там побывать

One of the best visuals and cinematography I've ever seen, it's just the story that seemed quite off and kind of ruined it for me.
I'm definitely checking out more of kar-wai's wrok.

Sometimes you don't have to understand everything, like the story in this film. The last 10 minutes lets you think about the world around you and your position in it. This film is vibes on multiple levels, cinematic work of art. A new comfort movie
Now this is what you call art!

Fallen Angels
visually great and the fact that it was almost completely hand camera is incredible however that’s the reason why it was hard to watch for me…
i think it’s the best typa movie to rewatch cause there isn’t any huge plot and u can just enjoy the atmosphere and cinematography

I’d be lying if I said I fully understood it but it was interesting. The movie feels like a deep dive into troubled strangers memories with their live commentary attached to said memory. If there were a theme It’d be the complexity of human connection, desire and adulthood.

A rich sequel to Chungking Express, but it wasn’t as compelling. The narrative and cinematography are great but the objectives of each character are what make this not as enjoyable as the former. I still really like this film nonetheless and it feels good to watch. 8.2/10

Isn't it romantic how I got here from the chainsmoker cat opening? I love the way this movie was shot, and the overall feel of it too. I enjoyed this movie with the perfect backround of the night sky and the noise of rain hitting the window, which is a 10/10 experience btw.

"Just when I really needed a raincoat, he returned to my side. It would be so great if it could rain forever."
Even though the assassin character was described to be stone cold, it was nice to see he wasn't a nonchalant character, but actually had a lot of hopes and dreams. It was sad to see what happened to him in the end.
I liked all the wacky characters, especially Ho Chi-mo's arc with his father. The cinematic shots were genius and I loved the aesthetic. We need more of that in today's films!

“I've left my mark, okay? You may forget my face, but you won't forget my bite.”
Fallen Angles is a one of kind film, it’s weird, it’s gorgeous and better yet amazingly entertaining. I felt a great sense of rewatch ability, as on my first watch I could see there’s so much to this then I’m letting on, the characters choices, the colour of the film itself, the way some shots slow down, it all just feels like there’s so much. And it’s entertaining enough that I could see myself warranting a close rewatch and maybe one after.
—SPECIAL TREATMENT—
Storyline 1: The Hitmen 14.2/15 (Some of the best moments came from this storyline, but just lacked that “flare” that the other one had at times.)
Storyline 2: He Chi-Mo 14.5/15 (It has flare, romance, weird aspects that make Wong so memorably great, will enjoy certain aspects a lot more on rewatch.)
Plot 8.5/10 (Either was confused, thought it was amazing, or there was none, very much a topsy turvy movie.)
Soundtrack/Score 8.5/10 (May grow on me, but as of right now, did not take to a lot of the songs.)
Acting 9.3/10 (Very key standouts, just some wasted potential, may go up.)
Pacing 10/10 (Rapid fire, blink and you’ll miss it, absolutely perfect for this kind of movie.)
Cinematography 12/10 (A visual masterpiece within the film media if not art as a whole
Character Development 8.8/10 (There’s so much more, I can feel it I can almost grasp.)
Writing 9/10 (Amazing dialogue, symbolism is top notch, will definitely revisit on rewatch.)
Ending 9.6/10 (Iconic, meaningful and mesmerising, truly spectacular.)
Direction 9.5/10 (I’ll say it before and I’ll say it again, Wong Kar-Wai is a top 5 director.)
Overall
113.9/120
Fallen Angels is a film I will without a doubt grow on and most certainly rewatch at the first opportunity, that being said, it has without a doubt earned itself a solid 9.4/10

Super interesting story with lots of dramatic twists - very passionate acting, that helped me feel immersed within the Japanese style of film-making - the action scenes were well-choreographed but truly what stood out to me most about this was the stunning visuals that were used especially with that one tunnel
