Ridley Scott madness as usual. My problem isn't really with the 'realistic' yet 'cheesy' story. Entertainment wise it's fine. It's built for the average American audience member. So don't expect Nolan level writing. My problem is with the casting. They do as much as they can and it works, if it was anything but this story. The acting ends up looking porcelain, with the on-off dialogue. The vfx clenches your cheeks, as with the sfx and score. Most of it is forgettable, and lost in my mind. I probably won't watch it again, but I had to for the Scott Free extravagance.

When this came out I thought it was a shitty 300 rip off. Didn’t realize it is literally the story of Moses but in a high budget action movie. Kinda 🔥

It’s very confusing. Either do it exactly how the Bible says or not at all. 3/10

It’s a shame how in the beginning I was thinking this is going to be good and the bad reviews were wrong, but then it went down hill from there. I thought Ridley Scott with Christian Bale and a cool Egyptian Bible epic would be cool but after the first 30 min it just totally lost me. First 30 min I thought it visually looked great, loved the costume design and thought Bale and Rameses would make for an interesting story. But once Bale as Moses is exiled from Egypt it just goes down hill. Slow, boring, little emotion, characters and story start getting uninteresting and it drags on. Moses talks to god through a child and the plagues just randomly start happening. And in the end no epic battle or anything it just sort of ends after the sea parts. Also I was randomly excited to see sigourney weaver as an egyptian advisor but she says almost nothing in the movie

9/10 Enjoyed how they rationalised using “Concussion = Vision”/“Poisoning the Water = Plague”/“Metro = Tsunami”, although did not explain first born deaths?, A great film from visionary director Scot (loved the end dedication to brother Tony). Recommend.

A grand, visually breathtaking epic that mostly delivers. The scale, performances, and atmosphere draw you in, even if the story stumbles at times. It may not reach emotional greatness, but its ambition and craftsmanship make it a powerful, memorable watch.
