Jake Gyllenhaal is one of the best actors of our generation. Not enough can be said. The subtleties he shows playing two roles are very slight but still evident. The movie itself definitely makes you ponder everything, especially the ending. Pretty bizarre but still good

I wish there was a wtf was that rating lol jake is my guy one of my favs but I have a headache from trying to figure this one out ……. And to say you will never see this ending coming is the understatement of the century ……..

Possibly the worst Villeneuve project yet. Not because it's necessarily bad, but because it's convoluted and pretentious. The metaphors felt obnoxiously confusing and over the top. The acting felt boring. The casting felt wasted, and the pacing felt drainingly slow due to the lack of development. The only real blame I place on Villeneuve is for choosing this book to adapt. I don't know much about it, but for a film, it doesn't seem to work, not without at least some input. All in all, I'd probably recommend any other project in the director's filmography before this one.

At the end of the day, I liked it overall, but I don’t necessarily think that just because one person has a theory that somewhat could be real about all the confusing shit in the movie that never gets explained in the movie itself means it’s automatically good. I think that this movie tries to throw so much hidden meaning things and a hidden plot somewhere but it never really alludes to the fact that it actually could be plausible in the movie.

There’s about 5 reasons why they are two different people and 1 reason why there might be one 1 person, and the whole confusion surrounds the fact that they could be different, not even they that are but they could and I think that’s bad storytelling.

It is just a cool story tho, it’s just dumb seeing everyone be confused after watching the movie having missing context because the film fails to explain it in a good way, and then they watch one “explanation video” that’s only just a possible theory and they go “yea that makes sense” or “ohhh, so that’s what that was”, then they call it good just because someone tried to make sense of the dumb shit. It’s all good to make a confusing movie that leaves you wondering what happened, it might take a smarter than average person or a rewatch to get it, but don’t just throw in a few things that don’t make sense and then don’t give context or explain it, it’s lazy and a cop out, and tbh it doesn’t make for a compelling, satisfying or good movie.

But it’s still alright.

Jake Gyllenhaal acts pretty good and there were some cool scary scenes but this movie was just a weird fetish slop with some an unnecessary rape scenes. No message, twist or depth or anything that’s obvious enough without people online having to explain it
