One of the worst movies I’ve ever watched; as a trans person I was disgusted to see how transness was shown and I’m furious to see a movie with these characters written by white rich cis men; just stop. Also, the songs and the dialogues are terrifying (and wtf Tel Aviv??? Fuck)

painful watch, the story actually great and heartbreaking but ISTG WHY DID THEY HAVE TO SING? ITS HORRIBLE LIKE IM ACTUALLY INTO THE STORY AND AT THE WORST MOMENT THEY SING BAD SONGS.

I've always tried to find at least one or two good aspects about a movie, even if it's bad, but I can officially say this is the worst movie to have ever existed. you can try and put a shit on a pedestal and say it's good, but im not gonna cheer for a piece of shit

1.8 - Transphobia, racism, stereotyping, lack of representation & research in production, excessive use of AI, & every other scandal absolutely plays into this rating.

But if I was to put all of that aside, this is still just not a good movie, in my opinion. The story itself is just boring. It’s bland to look at. It’s riddled with illogical decisions for the characters in their situations. And then the flow is interrupted with experimental musical numbers that just didn’t work for me. The songs are boring. The choreography isn’t interesting. I typically enjoy musicals at least a bit, but I think emotion drives the musicals I enjoy, & I felt no emotion in these performances.

The acting itself is fine. None of the performances outshine any of the other award nominees, but none were downright bad (recognizing I am not a fluent Spanish speaker & will not recognize the accent & delivery issues that have been discussed.)

Lastly, I always weigh whether a movie does what it is intended to or expected to. And this checks zero of the boxes needed for one of the most nominated movies of all time. On the synopsis, I see the awards appeal, but personal rankings, I’d probably rate this somewhere in the 4 to 5 out of 10 range just on its merits as a film. But I felt gross even watching it with all the drama.

I’m don’t get the hate. I think the movie is unique and avant-gardiste. It’s a musical like no other and some numbers are just incredible. The acting, especially Zoe Saldaña is great. Emilia’s character is well written, and shows all her nuances. Go see it for a proper opinion.

I dislike many many things about this movie, but making a mass-murdering drug lord into a trans person in no way redeems them. It’s just offensive to the actual trans experience. Weird and outright bad. Musicals have died and rotted.

Shitflix has yet again broke all records for making one of the most agonizing pieces of shit ever seen by mankind. If you thought I was going to spend my cinematic intellect on a well made review, you are wrong, this is not worth the thought, so I’ll leave it to this: Emilia Perez is like getting whipped while crucified, moreover, Diddy is paying you a visit and calmly gets close to you as he whispers “I’m gonna go crazy on you” as he gently strokes your cheek.

Es la cosa más horrible del mundo, no representa en lo más mínimo a México, ni le da la seriedad a la situación que se está tratando, los diálogos son de Google translate y el guión hace ver a Selena Gómez como si estuviera pendeja

4.0/ Now I see that this is a Netflix Original I am less blown away by the fact that I’ve seen this in a theater.. it was so awkward to see this on the big screen. Some parts were good & touchy, but they really wanted to make this movie artsy but it just didn’t work out imo..

this was shockingly bad, everything from the plot to the music to the acting SUCKED. i can't believe this wasn't scrapped mid production or that it made it to release.

Mala con ganas. Lo bueno es que no paraba de reír en algunos momentos de lo mala y absurda que es, empezando con los mil logos de inicio. La volvería a ver solo para reírme más. Zoe Saldaña hace lo que puede con tremendo truño de film y a ratos consigue que olvide lo mala que es

i expected way worse lmfao do not believe twitter watch shit yourself. 4/10 tho. wasn’t a fan of the cinematography. zoe was one of the best parts. every time i liked it something happened that made me dislike it. liked some songs. story was solid. best musical picture my ass

As a character Emilia is likeable but the movie honestly suffered from being a musical. Most songs ranged from being okay to being bad with mediocre singing. The plot was messy and the representation wasn’t that great, more hurtful

js wasted my time watching this 😐😐 i love musicals and barely dislike any movie but this is really horrible. so much was happening but it was still boring and the acting was so bad 😭😭

-3/10 Have you ever wanted to watch a movie about trans women and Mexico by a french cis man that is filmed entirely in France? Look no further. Beyond the clearly problematic themes of the movie the singing was shit and the lyrics confusing-“if hes the wolf youll be his sheep”
