'Léon: The Professional', but sprinkled with a whole lot of fantasy. I was expecting something generic and cheap but was pleasantly surprised by what Fuller did here. From the directing, writing, and production to the acting, designs, and soundtrack. Mikkelsen, Weaver, Dastmalchian, Atim, and even the little girl were all utilised brilliantly. The humour was refreshingly good, and so was the pacing. I loved how balanced the R rating felt too. It’s definitely a little scary for kids, but I’m sure they’d get through it fine. It’s a plus for the adults in the room, for sure.

The first 20 min I was really thinking Id end up hating this movie. Thankfully a bit of plot and character development started kicking in and by the end I could say I enjoyed it. Didnt love it, but I enjoyed it.

Could have been such a better movie had the monsters actually been a metaphor

It would’ve been cooler if there weren’t any real monsters and if the girl witnessed her parents be murdered and she formed these monsters as a way to cope.

Literally don’t understand at all how that’s her monster and it killed her other parents …. Like what do you mean… does everyone have a monster?

I think I have to google an explanation for this movie.

A really fun movie! Think ‘Léon: The Professional’ but set in a fantasy world. The story is entertaining and flows well, and Mads Mikkelsen is always a joy to watch. Great performance, great vibe - I had a really good time with it.
