If the spice extends life, than this film shortens life. The visuals hold up mostly to today’s. The story is bizarre, slow, and hard to follow. If you skipped this one you wouldn’t be missing anything.

David lynch really copied Denis Villeneuve’s Dune. When they use the shields, they look like Roblox characters. So glad dogs still exist in the year 10,191.

well…the cgi was so bad I laughed all the time; the pacing was so fast I couldn’t create any kind of empathy with the characters and I believe if I didn’t watch Villenueve’s Dune (I & II) first I wouldn’t even understand what’s going on; you tried David, you tried.

love the book but omg this Is so unserious I can’t with the shields and asmr monologues. Everyone saying this is better than the Timothée chalamet one is blinded by nostalgia even the director has ptsd 😭

great first half then it burns through the rest of the book at breakneck pace and wobbles off the tracks. Some great visuals though, and props to the props department.

What a fuckin fever dream of a movie. It’s all over the place. Like an absolute mess. Shit just kind of happens, and like 75% of the cast is just chewing scenery like their lives depend on it and most of the other 25% seem like they are half way down a K-hole and don’t know what’s going on. Also the voice over and subbing of lines is ATROCIOUS. Also most of the VFX work is just insane. Implemented so bizarrely and making a lot of total jank even for the time. Just so so much bonkers shit in this movie. That being said, it’s honestly kind of gold. at times it’s a comedy’s gold mine, however unintentional. The practical sets and effects used actually have a ton of 80s charm. It is genuinely a pretty fun watch from that lens but it’s just baffling that this film exists honestly. I will also note that I’ve never read Dune. I’ve seen the two current 2020s Dune films though and it’s very entertaining seeing two very different takes on the same source material. But still 110% worth a watch for a fan of schlocky sci-fi, 80s cheese, or entertainingly bad movies. Or if you have a love for old school film making/ set design, and the early implications of CG.

I think David Lynch inhaled too much spice. Bad choices include: the pug, the voice guns, milking a cat-rat, voice over thoughts, the shield special effects, Irulan’s intro speech, bald bene gesserit, etc. The 80’s did not age well. 😂

I’m extremely confused but that was awesome (special appreciation to Kyle Maclachlan’s hair and that sick ass guitar riff)

I only watched this because Toto does the soundtrack, they did great (because they are insanely talented), but this movie totally tanks.

So bad especially after watching the new ones

I remember watching this movie with my dad growing up. I think it still holds up.

Having only seen the modern Dune movies before and never read the books I liked this a lot. Only real issue is speed running the second half of the story which to me was the more interesting part. Kyle MacLachlan is great. The Roblox shields gave me a giggle.

It’s a good watch. The flaws and the good stuff balance each other out.
You either love it or hate it.
