I’ve got mixed feelings here.

The acting is great, but Fran’s desires are portrayed as petty and narcissistic and she’s appropriately “punished” when her new relationship falls apart. Meanwhile, Sam’s an absent husband and father but gets his happily ever after because he did it the “right” way (never mind that he ends up going after the same sort of adventure Fran asked for in the first place).

A lot of reviews say this movie handles the topics involved maturely and progressively, but the only real difference is that only the woman is punished for being a bad spouse and not the both of them.
