Did Mookie do the right thing? You’d think the film is just a hot summer, feel good based in late 80s Bed-Stuy New York, but no. It progresses into a critical two options in the fight for civil rights and social justice. The MLK v. X dilemma. A must watch Spike Lee film 🎥

Watched this for a class, everything about the movie is great. As a first generation American, although I do consider myself an AA I grew up in an African household so seeing authentic African American culture like this has always been fascinating for me.

not the traditional formatting of a story but it was still entertaining. it’s interesting to see how a little event can snowball into something else. not to mention how each character has both good and horrible views on society which represents people perfectly.

the lighting, the acting, the story, the camera work do i need to continue? this is a masterpiece. everything is so perfect, spike lee left no fucking crumbs.

SOO GOOD I cried a bit can’t lie. Some of those scenes were so hard to watch but it was amazing. I loved the camera work and also how vast the cast of characters were. Also the way it slowly went from a slice of life at the beginning to an intense action at the climax of the movie was peak. Definitely a classic.

Bad movie that makes Italians, blacks, and Asians all look racist. Worst of all, they make you read quotes at the end. What’s the point? Dead beat dads are the good guys. Be annoying, die, and become a hero. Serve the cops pizza and get your place burned to the ground. Capisci?

Wrote my film school thesis on this film. A masterpiece and was robbed from Oscar fame!

This movie was very interesting. I liked it, the overall message was good and so were the characters. I think the story is lacking and maybe they go too far in terms of displaying the opposite of what the proper reaction to certain racial and bigoted things are, but it’s purpose is still there and properly shown.

My score: 7.5/10

so good. such a fun movie until it’s not. this movie sadly could’ve been made today. excellent shots and story telling. spike is the best.

I really enjoyed all the neighborhood perspective and familiarity

I thought it was totally going to go in a different direction at first where mookie would die and then his photo would go up on the wall but I liked the meaning behind this ending as well where we maybe don’t need to know the character as closely for their death to still be meaningful and important and accurate to the time period

Thoughts it would just be a summer fun movie and turned into something very real. Makes you question character motivations and you realize you don’t know who these characters are and why they really do what they do
