"Who are the real villains?" Taking the biggest question from 'Jaws' and throwing the word generic overboard. Plot twists, double entendres, surrealism, and unnerving realism. Shudder has been exceeding my expectations recently, and the casting keeps me glued. Jai, Josh, and Hassie all outdid themselves. The cinematography and visual effects look great, and the overall Australian aesthetics fit perfectly. If you want a shark movie that isn't really a shark movie but definitely is a shark movie, this is it.

Watch this!! loved it. Give it up for creativity for sure. the acting is great and i absolutely love Jai's performance in this. hes so damn good AND we get a great fiesty performance from the lead and give us a great final girl. minor flaws but overall 8.5/10 for me

This was so fun and upsetting and frustrating and exhausting. Absolutely loved it, the action, the commentary, and the high tension cat and mouse.

a fun short shark horror film.

not as dark and scary as 47 meters down but still a great twist. the sharks are more realistic but not as scary and aggressive.

a dude that gets off from seeing girls getting eaten alive by sharks is so psychotic and fucked up.

the cgi is decent. although the final kill did look pretty bad.

storytelling is pretty good, not your typical shark film which i really liked.

hassie is hot af, although bad ass till her dumb ass kept holding the harpoon after the great white took the bait pulling her with it. i facepalmed after that haha.

jai courtney is such a great antagonist. love watching him be a crazy fuck / bad guy.

loved the cinematography x color palette.

Shark thriller meets menacing slasher flick, a good enough time to pop on. Jai Courtney is killer.

7.0 - Went in prepped for another bland, repetitive & silly shark horror, even knowing there was a serial killer twist before hand - & left very pleasantly surprised & entertained.

Jai Courtney is clearly having a blast & plays his role so straight forward that there’s a very unanticipated level of realism teetering on actually scary. Hassie Harrison also delivers a classically gritty final girl performance.

It’s paced well. The few goofy jokes mostly land. And it’s beautifully shot, really capturing the beauty of both the Australian seaside and of the sharks in their natural habitat. (Honestly it repeatedly struck me while watching how much better it did its job than Lilo & Stitch did with Hawaii).

The conclusion didn’t hit quite as well as its buildup made me hope, & there are times it toes the line of being a little too violent or sadistic. But overall, great time - absolutely recommend as a summer horror.

i’m sure if i thought about it more or revisited it, my enjoyment would go down but it was serviceable for the most part, the sharks were used creatively
i do think the writing holds it back quite a bit but i wanted to see what was gonna happen

If you love replacing your blood with pure cortisol this is your movie. The actor who played the villain is really great and the character was creeepy! yes, the plot is a lil predictable and the sharks are just okay, but it’s a ‘good for her’ with lots of omg

Pretty solid honestly. Makes the overdone shark horror feel fresh and stressful. Some of the writing feels a bit cheesy at times and I could have done without the romance, but I think it all works together for the most part. A great opening to set the tone and great pacing throughout. A pretty decent shark thriller.

Kinda good! I’m a sucker for lame and terrible shark movies so I was already prepared for that, but this isn’t exactly that kind of a shark movie. Pretty good!

This was sooo good, the amount of times I thought that blonde girl died loll , loved the ending , pretty short film tbh but it doesn’t feel like it (1.5hrs), the sharks in this movie were soo pretty , 9/10(just cuz it could’ve been scarier loll)
