Strangely, watching the Jane Goodall doc reminded me of this corny 90s action film I liked as a kid. Total nonsense but I enjoyed the nostalgia, Tim Curry’s terrible fake European accent and the sign language speaking ape Amy (a person in a monkey suit lol)

Haven’t seen this since I was a kid. There’s charm in its seriousness despite absurd elements. Killer apes, laser diamonds, talking gorillas, it commits fully. That sincerity, combined with old-school adventure spirit, makes it a cult favorite.

Only thing I really liked was how the lava in the film is handled. Here's a hint, it's super hot, you know like in real life.

I haven’t seen this film in thirty years and I was curious because I remember very little about it. Although not as good as Crichton’s previous film adaptation I believe it is underrated. It has a cast with some big names, good action and solid special effects!

Its a strange one, It’s quite shit but also kinda decent. The concept is laughable but the execution is quite humorous 3/10

I don’t care how bad this has aged. At the time, I loved it because of Laura Linney, Dylan Walsh, Tim Curry, and Ernie Hudson.
It’s still a favorite to watch now, even though the effects are kind of weak. Still a fun throwback to a different time in films.👍🏻

This movie is a gem (pun intended) and we honestly don’t give it enough love.

Looking back at it now, I can understand why people thought that the movie was hilarious but back when I watched it when I was the young, this film was absolutely amazing.

A faithful enough adaptation of the book. Relevant themes and ideas were conveyed. The special effects leave something to be desired.
