Color Out of Space

Truly one of the more disturbing things I’ve seen, and I’ve watched a lot of horror. The combination of horrific imagery and fantastic performances in certain scenes made me feel physically sick to my stomach. The plot is a little all over the place but damn if it didn’t hold my attention while simultaneously have me wishing to be free.

Like every other independent Nicolas Cage movie, Nic Cage steals the spotlight. His performance carried me to the end eventually, and into insanity. Speaking of insanity, the visuals were amazing although it was starved of decent screen time. The score was ethereal and was one of the reasons I stayed. My main issue is with the context itself. It's boring and the pacing is horrible, with barely anything happening. It needed to remain short, like the story. The mystery and creepiness create tension but it goes on for too long, so I lost interest.

A very wild and visually stimulating ride. Nic Cage is amazing and eerie as always. I personally didn’t love the last 30 minutes but I loved the rest of the movie.

With a slightly bigger budget for effects rendering and more secondary / exterior footage, this could have been incredible. 3/5⭐️
