Cellar Door

The film’s named cellar door but the door literally has like nothing to do with the plot? So many holes in the story and I think the ending is unsatisfying and a waste of time

And the point is? I get the underlying messages and the main twist revolves around the 'cellar door' which, in the end, is very unsatisfying. The rest of it makes no sense because we are just following what's very slowly being shown. I was disappointed halfway through because nothing was happening. I thought maybe it's my fault, but then they decided to tell us things and it felt very underwhelming. The type of scene that makes you go 'ok, so?'. It's nice seeing the woman from 'Fast n Furious' even though the performances were empty. Had a strong takeoff, wobbly flight and atrocious landing.

I don't care if it took my soul, a situation like this is probably the only hope I would have of having a house in 2025.

It was good but not finding out what was inside the cellar is super unsatisfying, it leaves us with a pretty average film, 5.6/10

This was a letdown to be honest. The premise was really intriguing, but it all just fell completely flat with a really rubbish ending and loads of plot holes in the story. I get and understand the seemingly symbolic cellar door, but it just doesn’t make sense. Write ups say the intrigue of the door led to John’s infidelity, yet that started before they got the home and knew about the door? If Paul previously lived there and didn’t open the door, why doesn’t he still live there? Because Emmet said he would inherit it again if the door was opened. He obviously did inherit it again because he had it again to give to John and Sarah, so then the door WAS previously opened, yet Paul said he didn’t and wished he had? So did his wife open it? Was Emmet real? The map guy said Emmet left 25 years ago and nobody had seen him since, yet he was living in that house? If nobody had seen him in all that time, how did the other realtor know about him? And mainly, what was in the cellar door?! I don’t buy the ‘left open for interpretation’ thing. It just feels like there was never a real plan with the door. If you remove the door completely from the film, the entire film works without it. Gifted house, affair, revenge murder. The cellar door aspect was completely unnecessary, and rather than adding depth, it actually just creates confusion and questions. This is definitely not a horror either, which it’s listed as on Prime. It’s a mild thriller. This could have been so much more.

Not worth the watch at all. The whole movie could have been done in 20 minutes, complete waste of an hour and a half

This could have been a decent movie, it had a good plot, but the execution and script were lacking. Tension didn’t build as it should so the twist didn’t shock and the ending fell flat when it could have really packed a punch if done right. I can’t even recommend as entertaining
