My favorite ghibli movie 10/10

probably my favorite ghibli movie. the visuals of laputa are simply stunning. perfect combo of adventure + comedy

6/10 A good Studio Ghibli film but not the best. There’s not too much depth to the characters and their relationship and the plot was pretty predictable. Although it was still an enjoyable watch and the animation was great.

Animation back in the day was hitting. Unique story and characters. Miyazaki’s animation always feels so conforming and fun.

Stunning visuals, good plot, good message without being too heavy handed.

This is only the third studio ghibli movie I’ve seen, so bear that in mind when acknowledging my review. I just wasn’t impressed; it couldn’t hook me in. After Spirited Away and Howl’s Moving Castle, it’s hard to top, but this was just a yawn from me.

Hayao Miyazaki playing it safe in some of his films has been diminishing it's magic for me, specially his concepts which nevertheless and don't get me wrong they're still great but some of the writing choices as doubtful as they sometimes may be lack boldness for me.

I had this as background but I watched it. The boy was cute and willing to protect her it was adorable. This was a few months ago so I don’t have much to say. I like princess Mononoke more tho. Just a smidge

If I had a nickel for every time Mayumi Tanaka was the VA for a male protagonist who dreamed of reaching something which was a controversial idea of whether it could be reached or not, where helping them achieve that dream involves them going to an infamous sky island in a story revolving around pirates against an evil government, who’s rivalry surrounds characters holding a prominent and mysterious name and prophecy given to them through their ancestors, I’d have like 2 nickels. 

I couldn’t help but hear Luffy whenever Pazu spoke. 

Watched in Sub. when switching between Sub and Dub to find which one I liked better, I noticed there was music and a score in the Dub that wasn’t in the Sub for different sections, now I’m not sure if I should’ve watched Dub because I feel like I’ve missed out on something that could change the film in a big way, very strange.

My score: 8.5/10
