Visuals are amazing, sound design incredible. Otherwise… yeah.
Don’t think media like this works well with an emotional story. I just wanna appreciate the visuals not have to see shit I’ve seen in damn near every other piece of media.
“Nazi’s bad. Jews good” alright I get it.

Although it is a great story, I didn’t connect with this one as much as I did some of the others.

A gorgeously animated story. The animation is just absolutely astounding and fits the devastation of the narrative incredibly well. It’s a very artistic short, but with high enough quality to earn its artistic value and not feel pretentious at all.

The art style alone makes this a love. I can’t even begin to imagine the time and artistic and technical ability it took to make this piece of art. The story is simple but is still a powerful reminder of part of our human history that should never be forgotten.

This feels like the animated version of a book I could have read in elementary school. That feels very special, I really liked it, and the animation was amazing.

6.9 - I wish this connected a little better for me in the moment.
It’s gorgeous. The painterly style is so unique. But it almost overshadows instead of underscores what should have been the most powerful story of the Oscar nominated set this year, and that’s disappointing.
That said, in a year sort of lacking in powerfully emotional and political stories, the type that usually seem to perform best for awards, this would not surprise or upset me as the winner.

A canvas come to life…and death…and everything in between. Visually stunning.

Amazing. Not what I expected at all. A must watch short. Completely hand painted.
