Boogie Nights
I can’t believe it took me this long to watch. Boogie Nights is now in my top 50 favorite films ever. It’s a masterpiece about the rise and fall of the porn industry but what makes it work so well is its character driven narrative about the people in the industry. I loved it

Freaking amazing film. I loved so so so much of it but not enough. So fun and I am so incredibly happy mark wahlberg is now a godly man. The perfect transition for him and I hope he thinks about it daily.

I might just be sad and high but I literally started sobbing at the end when they are all in the house like a family ☹️☹️☹️☹️💔💔💔💔💔Idec I will always love a happy ending to a crazy movie better then an artsy one that’s less satisfying but more realistic. The penis reveal at the end had me a little gagged though I must say.

i don’t rlly know how to feel about this movie it was kinda all over the place - there were times i thought it was a comedy only to see some of the darker sides of the industry - mark wahlberg was great and i didn’t realize how many big actors were actually in this too.

7/10 Dark comedy from behind the scene look at the late 70’s porn industry. Great cast who all add their own individual talents underline by the late Reynolds. Classic final scene completes this story. Recommend.

“Oh, that's Cosmo... he's Chinese.”
Boogie Nights is an absolute masterclass in that of how to make a good-ass period piece movie, it’s accurate, leaves no room for censorship and best of all it stylises the decade realistically, think Django Unchained type style. PTA has proved time and time again that he has beyond a force to be reckoned with, but that of an intergalactic fucking death weapon for any other film that realises near him, practically vaporising the competition with his high hits and not many low lows, making him one of, if not the best working directors today.
1st Act 9.3/10 (Amazing start, but too much goes too well for too long.)
2nd Act 11/10 (HOLY FUCK IS DECEMBER 1983 PEAK, THE EXACT 2 HOUR MARK IS ONE OF MY FAVOURITE SCENES IN CINEMA, BLEW ME THE FUCK AWAY.)
3rd Act 10/10 (Very left field, but very deserving, just happy it ended like that and not Requiem For A Dream, thought that was coming tbh.)
Plot 10/10 (So well executed, so well thought out, Once Upon A Time Hollywood and Wolf Of Wall Street wish they were this.)
Soundtrack/Score 11/10 (ONE OF THE GREATEST SOUNDTRACKS AND SCORES OF ALL TIME.)
Acting 11/10 (Mark Wahlberg gives a performance that rivals Leo in his prime, Don Cheadle gives his best performance, and to top it all off, Alfred Molina is unrecognisable.)
Pacing 8.7/10 (Decently well paced but lacks sometimes, only really picking up phenomenally near the end.)
Cinematography 9.2/10 (Nothing to particularly blow you away, but my god is this well shot.)
Character Development 9.4/10 (BUCK AND EDDIE ARE SO GOATED.)
Writing 9.5/10 (Pretty decent writing for characters, especially Buck’s last, but the argument at the beginning and the foreshadowing up it but 0.6 points.)
Ending 9.5/10 (Expected more depth to finalise some characters, but I’m happy how it turned out.)
Direction 10/10 (TARANTINO FUCKING WISHES.)

Boogie Nights
The pinnacle of illusion and decadence.
Bunch of dirty, coke-addled crazy asses in a much too long movie

Amazing how much of the style choices here persist on his later movies. A love-hate letter to the 70s where the people that hurt you the most and set you down the worst paths are also the only ones that truly get you and won't run away from you
