Boogie Nights Reviews

I can’t believe it took me this long to watch. Boogie Nights is now in my top 50 favorite films ever. It’s a masterpiece about the rise and fall of the porn industry but what makes it work so well is its character driven narrative about the people in the industry. I loved it

6/10 idk what i was expecting watching a movie bout the porn industry but story seemed all over the place kinda like i expected it to be. some jumps and cuts had me feeling like whole scenes were cut out maybe i was goo shmacked while watching it tho 🤷‍♂️

Freaking amazing film. I loved so so so much of it but not enough. So fun and I am so incredibly happy mark wahlberg is now a godly man. The perfect transition for him and I hope he thinks about it daily.

Mom…I close my eyes this whole movie

Incredible.

8.7/10
i don’t rlly know how to feel about this movie it was kinda all over the place - there were times i thought it was a comedy only to see some of the darker sides of the industry - mark wahlberg was great and i didn’t realize how many big actors were actually in this too.

6,5/10

yeah I thought it was going to be about dancing or something.

7.5/10

Achei q seria tipo um American pie,me surpreendeu quando vi que era sobre a história da industry’s porno, Ascenção e queda. Na maior Parte do filme fiquei”qq eu to vendo, qq ta acontecendo”. Sendo um filme dos anos 90, aonde tudo era mt sexualizado ate na tv aberta é bacan 6/10 ⭐️

9/10 obra maestra

This marks the last first watch of PTA’s filmography, and what a film to get caught-up with.

Boogie Nights was really not the film I was expecting, both in its raw approach to story, but also just the sheer energy the film has to it. Easily a contender for the best soundtrack in a film - banger after banger just plays throughout this whole experience, and not once does it ever feel forced or unfitting. I don’t think there’s another film to my knowledge that acts as a deep-dive into the pornography industry as laser-focused as it is here - it’s super compelling and perfectly handled.

Finding Mark Wahlberg hot wasn’t on my bingo card, but there we are, not to mention the fact it’s the best performance he’s ever given - and often found myself annoyed whilst watching this about how he content he is throwing out the slop he does when there’s this ability in him - crazy waste. Burt Reynolds was magnetic, also the best I’ve seen from him, even if he hated the film and the experience making it. Julianne Moore, Don Cheadle - I could go on… everyone does brilliantly here.

That opening scene with Best of My Love playing over that tracking shot introducing all the main characters was sublime, I’ve never been so locked in from the start of a film.

I love you Paul Thomas Anderson

All time favorite

7/10 Dark comedy from behind the scene look at the late 70’s porn industry. Great cast who all add their own individual talents underline by the late Reynolds. Classic final scene completes this story. Recommend.

William H Macy the real loser of the film ngl
