This film truly surprised me. I had to watch this for film class and I really enjoyed it. While it’s a propaganda film, it still has great editing and cinematography with some insane sequence like the one on the steps. This truly paved the way for future films and editing.

While the cinematography and editing are brilliant and I was able to appreciate what this film has done for cinema and the art of filmmaking, this is still a piece of silent age Soviet propaganda. But yeah, that sequence on the Odessa steps is insane. 8/10

An absolutely stunning movie. A marvel of its time in terms of production quality and storytelling. Very good at capturing the spirit of revolution and the collective consciousness of the people against the oppressors. Would recommend to anyone and everyone.

Silent film, but a good one.
It’s propaganda, yes, but I think it still is a great time capsule for the, at the time,new revolutionary heart of Russia. And I enjoyed the cinematography quite a bit if im honest. Downside: sometimes it gets a little boring…

watched in class so it felt like work, was rather interesting tho

The first time I watched this, I enjoyed it. But on a rewatch, this movie was pretty insane honestly. Super impressive and of course the Odessa Steps scene is amazing.

This was a weird experience for me but it was so cool !

I was onboard with the plot until the “kill the Jews” title card after googling I now understand but kinda very unnecessary

Wonderful, revolutionary story. Many beautiful shots, there is a lot of cutting, but it works so well, you forget to notice it.
