at first i was like hell yeah gordon is the goat he’s stone cold and i love him and then he CHEATED ON HIS WIFE WHO IS ALSO PREGNANT and then i lost all respect for him. that’s my review

It was technically the first animated DC movie I watched, and I'm trying to get into the DCU. It was a good origin story but I can't say too much on it, as I'm new to this. I liked it tho and I want to watch more.

Perfect adaptation. Animation outclassed every other straight-to-dvd DC movie I've seen. Bryan Cranston provides a stand out performance. Every added scene only clarified and even enhanced the story. 9/10

Didn’t like how it was more of a Gordon move rather than a Batman movie. There was not enough Batman but maybe if I watched it again I would like it more because it was like a 10 hour car ride and I watched a lot of Batman movies.

an ok retelling of batman’s first year told primarily via jim gordon. this movie is ripped straight from the year one comic and i would say just read that instead. this is pretty much just a worse version of that pretty good story.

Gordon cheated on his wife for no reason and the Batman voice actor was lowkenuinely mid and there was corny stuff in the first half like Bruce talkin to his dead dad for inspo

What a film this is faithful to the source has a perfect Gordon and some PEAK batman the action is great the story is fire and it’s perfect for what it so 9.5/10 (18)

Quite disappointed in this one. It feels so far off from every other take. I thought it was going to be similar to “The Long Halloween Pt. 1 & 2”, but not at all. Every character felt like they had no redeemable qualities, and I’m talking about Batman, Jim Gordon, Selena Kyle. I know it was his first year, but Batman was so bad. Like he wasn’t even intelligent like he is supposed to be. Made terrible mistakes that I’m surprised didn’t get him caught up or killed. Gordon was having an affair his first few months in Gotham, like what?! If anyone is known for loving their family more than Bruce it’s Jim. The story sucked, the action sucked, I just expected way more honestly.

Pretty cool. I liked the focus around Gordon and the heroics of Bruce rather than JUST Batman. A little slow at times but the execution was unique. Gordon’s monologues were cool.

A perfect adaptation of a fantastic comic! A must watch Batman film!

TLDR of this movie: ACAB except Gordon. But also Gordon isn’t totally excluded bc he cheated on his pregnant wife so just ACAB

a lot of gordon and a lil less batman
which isn’t a bad thing
