I was 50/50 with this. The plot is fairly non existent and the movie feels and looks like a theatre show. Kilmer is ok as Batman without really doing a lot. Carrey and Jones as the villains are unbelievably OTT. It’s saving grace is the non stop action scenes. Guilty pleasure

Batman Kliri glux always loving a woman when the city is at stake

After the gothic parent-nightmare that was Tim Burton’s Batman Returns, they wanted a lighter, more kid friendly version of Batman. With that in mind, I think this movie does that well. It’s fun and campy while also staying cool and Batmany.

I rather fuck my cuzin gabe then watch this again

4.8 - A lot of what makes the Burton films good is missing & it feels like a rip off. Tommy Lee Jones’s Two Face feels like a Nicholson Joker rip. Carrey’s Riddler is over the top, bordering on “too much.” Val Kilmer’s Batman is flat and boring. Just doesn’t work like the others.

I actually don’t mind Val Kilmer as Batman.
I think he plays a compelling Bruce Wayne and Batman.
The villains highkey suck:
Jim Carrey basically just plays himself.
I didn’t like the whole shared memory angle and I think it just over complicates an already stuffed villain room.
Two Face is entirely misunderstood in this movie:
He’s trying to be a Joker copycat when the real two face is a much more nuanced villain instead of just a textbook homicidal maniac.
They tried to play around with the coin flip angle but it felt brief.
The overall tone is much different from burtons films and makes this movie feel campy and a bit childish.
Not the worst but not worth a rewatch.

Yeah, I really, really don’t like this.

It’s just entirely obnoxious. I understand their want to “course-correct” after Batman Returns being too dark to sell their toys or whatever, but man it’s just load of rubbish, can’t fathom what Joel Schumacher was going for.

Val Kilmer is given virtually nothing to work with and comes off really negatively as a result. Tommy Lee Jones and Jim Carrey are just fucking awful. Jones obviously wants to be Jack Nicholson’s Joker - total misfire. I’ve never understood the appeal of Jim Carrey’s comedy - I hate it, he does the same thing for every role, I think he’s far better as a dramatic actor.

Liked even less than I remembered, God knows what I’ll think of Batman & Robin now, when I muster up the courage…
