9.9 - New all timer. This was beautiful & heartbreaking & hopeful. The production design, the story, the acting, the slow burn for an emotion packed conclusion. Immaculate. I want to write more but I’m too awestruck.

Awesome sci-fi movie with an amazing story. The overarching theme of time being non-linear, and language being the key to everything is such a cool concept. Amy Adams and Renner were great and the cinematography and quality drag you in. Loved this, might watch again soon.

Holy cow, what a movie. Perception of time and use of language makes it so interesting, absolutely love this genre so I could be bias, but it really had such a good ending.

I think this is the most accurate representation of the world’s reaction to first contact with extra-terrestrial beings. Wonderful film with much to take away from it, especially to aspiring pacifists.

"If you could see your whole life from start to finish, would you change things?"
Man, what a fucking good ass movie, like holy shit was that good. Arrival is and should be the absolute GOLD standard for modern sci-fi movies, it’s tense, it’s scary, it’s cool, it’s thrilling and best of fucking all, it’s original.
1st Act 9.7/10 (God I was fucking terrified for the first 33 minutes, yes that’s on the dot, I was scared shitless.)
2nd Act 9.3/10 (Drops off a bit but when we get to a certain point about the (MINOR SPOILER) Heptapods it’s shoots right the fuck back up.)
3rd Act 9.6/10 (Hang on a minute, why are China the bad guys, we all know damn well the US would do that shit too.)
Plot 10/10 (It’s original, it’s cool, it works, and best of all, ITS DENIS.)
Soundtrack/Score 9.4/10 (Two songs were used, one is somewhat decent, the other is absolutely peak.)
Acting 9.7 (Where in the actual fuck is Amy Addams’s Oscar?)
Pacing 10/10 (You couldn’t pull me off this movie if you stuck bleach in my eye.)
Cinematography 9.5/10 (It’s very solid, like very well shot, and coloured, but not my “beautiful” standard, still amazing tho.)
Character Development 9.7/10 (Verge of tears, this is what Tenet wishes it was.)
Writing 10/10 (THEY MADE A WHOLE FUCKASS NEW LANGUAGE.)
Ending 10/10 (Wouldn’t have ended it any other way, super satisfying.)
Direction 10/10 (God I love Denis, he’s just Kubrick coded with modern technology.)
Overall

Man, people weren't lying saying how good this is.
What more can I say that hasn't been said.
Denis is a master.
All elements were perfect and neat, helping to build that incredible atmosphere that surronds you from the first second.
Definitely one of the top 5 or even 3 sci-fi-

This movie…this movie right here is one reason why Denis Villaneuve is now my favorite modern director. There’s an incredible takeaway from this movie as well! - Humanity is at its best & its strongest when we learn from each other.

Might be one of my all-time favorites!

Arrival
One of the best movies of all time.
I want to feel as if I'm there, and Arrival does just that. From sight to sound, smell to taste, I could perfectly invision myself in this story. The score is erethreal, the acting is heavenly, the visuals are angelic, the dialogue is genius, the sfx are unworldly, the story is breathtaking, and the emotion is heart wrenchingly beautiful. Denis Villeneuve (a wizard) managed to blend the meaning of life, love, death, and a lot more into a grippingly, satisfying, slow burn thriller. If this hasn't made you want to watch it, then I don't know what will.

I love linguistics so a lot of this movie was super cool, but I didn’t get the ending and the family drama connection just wasn’t clear to me. I can tell it’s great a movie if you get it, but I did not.

I actually hated this movie but my friends somehow enjoyed it.
If you wanna watch people teach alien squids how to speak sign language then I’d give this one a go

Arrival
not a fan of how laid out and dumbed-down the main message of 'we should all work together' is, other themes were really well written into the story nonetheless. it's definitely a good movie, but not a jaw dropping masterpiece either
