This is a masterpiece; a truly phenomenal work of art. Please experience this film and soak in its unyielding beauty.

The intoxicating choreography, mesmerizing songs, and superb cinematography was so convincingly spiritual, I was converted for all two hours.

Amanda Seyfried!!!

This is a rich and lingering movie that won’t be for everyone, but its purpose lands with gravity and a sense of reverence that seems to say “leave people alone, who cares if they annoy you, you don’t have to engage.” Striking performances and choreography. Production design’s a gem.

I was honestly shocked that I really enjoyed this movie. The songs are fantastic. The singing is great and the story is really interesting. I feel Amanda Seyfried does a great job in this movie.

Shockingly captivating for what feels like a relatively slow story. Seyfried is so spectacular in this role and I think is her best to date. She gives everything to this character and really brings her to life on screen.

The dance, the music, the goddamn cinematography is all so gorgeous. I sat through the entire credits because of how beautiful everything is. So much love and care clearly went into this.

Where I’m a little unsure, is how I am supposed to feel of this religion. At times, it feels like the film is lacking a point of view on the subject. It seems mostly portrayed in favorable light, with some of the core tenets of the faith being so altruistic. Though I also found myself wondering where the line is between spiritual leader and cult leader.

Religious context aside, it’s a loving and beautiful portrayal of a woman who sought her entire life to better the world and seek God, and that feels so refreshing in the political hellscape that is evangelicalism.

I can’t say enough how visually stunning this film is. The colors, costuming, choreography, how the scenes feel like paintings. It really was breathtaking.

Really disappointing. Seyfried was incredible with a visceral performance in a demanding role. The musical sequences were magical, externalizing the internal and basically serving as all character development. But the narration lazily moves the story and ruins the whole thing.

I am not a religious person but this movie moved me. It was so raw and meaningful. Excellent watch

At first I was only in it to watch Lewis Pullman. I’m not religious or any sense but as I watched it I really didn’t mind it, I thought it was great to watch how the moment went. 8/10

Watched this a second time and enjoyed it even more after reading more about Ann Lee.

A well made film, though not to be viewed by the commoner. Some very captivating scenes and story telling, although the narration was too much and some key growth explanation and teachings of the faith would have been beneficial. Amanda should have received an Oscar nomination for this. Wow, she really gave so much of herself for this film. The final scene was great. Would have liked more of that throughout the movie.

Horrendous religious persecution for a country where religious freedom is theoretically one of the highest ‘values’.

4/2/26: Ok. I had high expectations. It really drew itself out for longer than it needed. The acting is nice, but the story is quite slow and ponderous. Tragic ending. Very Christian, almost felt modern in its Christianity at moments.
